ChARIS
Christian Abraham Kuyper Research Institute in Seoul
Advancing Kuyperian public theology and forming Christian leaders for public responsibility in the Korean context.
Grounded in Abraham Kuyper’s vision of Christ’s lordship over every sphere of life, ChARIS integrates scholarship, publication, and leadership formation to prepare a new generation of leaders for Korean reunification and its societal reconstruction.
Its name reflects the Greek word charis (χάρις) for grace, a central theme in Kuyper’s theology affirming God’s sovereignty and human responsibility in every sphere of life. ChARIS advances scholarly research, publication, and leadership development within the Korean context. The Institute is not merely a program, but an integrated platform through which Christian public leaders may be formed for faithful engagement in Korea and beyond.
ChARIS works through leadership, network, and press: forming people, connecting communities, and extending Kuyperian reflection into Korean public discourse.

Reunification rests in God’s sovereign hands; reconstruction belongs to the responsibility of church and society.
ChARIS Seminars are domestic interdisciplinary gatherings addressing the moral, political, and institutional challenges of a reunified society. In later phases, the ChARIS Conference will broaden this work through international collaboration, strategic partnerships, and sustained dialogue among scholars, pastors, and civic practitioners.
A public platform where church, academy, and civic leadership intersect.
ChARIS Press is the Institute’s publication platform for original scholarship, Korean translations, and curated works emerging from seminars and conferences. Its early projects will address Kuyper’s life and thought, constitutional development, civic responsibility, institutional reform, and public leadership in times of societal transformation.
